Iowa Department of Economic Development Director Debi Durham
toured southwest Iowa
An open lunch for discussion between Director Durham, IDED, and economic development leadership was hosted by the Red Oak Chamber and Industry on June 30 in Red Oak.
Durham stated that she was very pleased with the passage of legislation that will enable IDED to form a public/private partnership for economic development support for the state of Iowa. There were many comprises on the structure, reporting and oversight of this new entity, but she felt it would be of great benefit.
IDED is also working, and will soon unveil, a new brand strategy moving away from Iowa Lifechanging. New materials will be developed for the initiative. The department will remain focused on advanced manufacturing, BioScience, information technology, financial services, renewable energy and food manufacturing.
Board and membership meetings are scheduled in November each year for the following year. Locations are rotated throughout the membership area so that they are accessible to as many people as possible.
Any member is welcome to volunteer to host a meeting in his/her local community.
